What are the stages of making an application letter?
So that you can make an application letter well, pay attention to the steps below
- Heading
In this section, you must include your name, address, city, province, and postal code followed by telephone number and e-mail. Then, write the date of the letter on the next line. Also write down the name of the recruiter along with the position and full address of the recruiter.
- Subject (in e-mail)
If you make an application letter in an e-mail, make sure you write down the job you are applying for along with your name in the subject column so that recruiters get information clear about the position you want and also your identity.
- Greeting
Starting with “Dr./Mr./Ms. (Last name). If you don't know the recruiter's last name, write "Dear Hiring Manager." You also can't write at all and go straight to the first paragraph, you know.
- Letter body
1). First paragraph: Explain why you wrote the letter. and where you found vacancies for those jobs.
2). The second paragraph includes: offer the recruiter what you have to offer—including your skills and work experience—that makes you a strong candidate for the job.
3). Third paragraph: Thank the recruiter for their attention and how you will proceed with the application.
- Signature
End your cover letter with a polite closing, such as “Sincerely” or “Regards” and your signature followed by your full name. In the email, just write the name followed by contact information.
Parts of a job application letter
There are generally 3 parts to a job application letter. Here's the explanation:
1). Salutation (opening)
Salutatio is the opening section that contains to whom the letter is addressed. The format is:
- Dear sir/madam (when you don't know the name and gender of the recipient)
- Dear Mr./ Mrs./ Ms. Last name (when name and gender are known)
2). Body of Paragraph (content)
This section contains the gist of the letter. This is also where the last education or work experience is listed and where the job vacancies are found. Complete CV and portfolio included in the envelope can also be included.
3). Closing (cover)
Closing is the closing part that marks the end of the application letter.
How to format a cover letter
When writing a job application letter, make sure you include information about yourself and your professional experience that will be of interest to the hiring manager:
1. Use a professional format.
A job application letter should be more professional than a thank you card or an email to a coworker or friend. Document alignment must include single spacing, one-inch margins, and left alignment.
2. Create a title.
The title should include your name and contact information, the date and the name and address of the company. If you're sending a job application letter via email, you can omit your name and contact information from the header and place it at the bottom of the email after your signature.
3. Address the letter to the hiring manager.
In your research, try to find the name of the person who reviewed the job application. Address your letter to this person with a common business greeting, such as “Dear Sir/Madam.” and their last names.
How to write a cover letter
1. Review information about the company and position
2. Open the letter explaining your interest
3. Describe your experience and qualifications
4. Include aspects of your personality
5. Expressing appreciation
6. Close the letter
